• Jedi Consular Class Guide

Known as the ambassador of the Republic, the Jedi Consular will show speed and precision during a fight but also his versed ability of using the power of the Force. Jedi Consulars and Jedi Knights will commence their journey on Tython.

The Jedi Consular wears light cloaks and robes, as heavy armors do not suit his agile way of fighting. While in combat, he relies mostly on channeling the power of the Force and his Lightsaber, the proof of his belonging to the Jedi Order. The mirror class for the Jedi Consular is the Sith Inquisitor that possesses similar abilities and shows equally impressive skills when wielding his Lightsaber.

    Advanced Classes

The advanced classes of the Jedi Consular are the Sage and the Shadow.

The Jedi Sage is capable of using the Force power with equal efficiency for both healing and defense and wears a single-bladed Lightsaber.

The Jedi Shadow is proficient in Lightsaber combat and wields the Force to conceal himself from his enemies.

    Sage Trees

Telekinetics - Allows the Sage to can enhance his destructive powers (ranged DPS with Force-based damage abilities).

Seer - Trains the Sage into the positive use of the Force, enabling him to protect his allies and restore their health.

    Shadow Trees

Infiltration - The Shadow focuses on learning burst damage combat techniques and stealth attacks to surprise his enemies (melee DPS skill tree).

Kinetic Combat - Trains the Shadow in double-bladed Lightsaber combat mastery, increasing his battle endurance and allowing him to protect his comrades (tank skill tree).

The shared skill tree for Shadow and Sage is Balance. Specializing in Balance will increase the Sage’s power of Force attacks and boost the Shadow’s Force and Lightsaber skills.

    Species

The playable species for the Jedi Consular are Human, Mirialan, Mirialuka, Twi’lek and Zabrak.

    Primary Stat

The primary stat of the Jedi Consular is Willpower (increases your force damage / healing). Healer or a DPS, Willpower is the stat you would need to stack most.

    Starships

The Jedi Consular travels using the Corellian Defender-class Light Corvette starship. Since this ship was custom built by the Jedi Council to fit the needs of the members of the Jedi Order, there is a slim chance to find a ship more appropriate for a Consular in the present Universe.

The ship is equipped with a Holocom secure communications system that serves to negotiation and diplomacy purposes but it’s also prepared for combat as it’s reinforced with twin turbo lasers and high-powered shields.

Well your question is comparing 2 completely different things. a Jedi Consular is the class that can be divided into 2 AC (advanced classes) one being Sage (Ranged DPS/Heals) and the other being Shadow (Melee dps/Tank). Guardian is an AC of the Jedi Knight class. Guardian (melee dps/Tank) and Sentinel (melee dps) are the two Jedi Knight ACs.

Now that we have that out of the way, I think your question is regarding the Jedi Consular Shadow, and Jedi Knight Guardian. Both are melee dps/tank ACs, with few key differences. First being the armor class. Jedi Consular Shadows wear light armor (cloth in other games) where the Jedi Knight Guardian wears Heavy armor (plate). This means the shadow has to resort to out abilities to allow them to survive and use the force to protect them. The Jedi Knight relies more on his armor and less on force shields.

Both can tank, but they have completely different styles, so it will boil down to your preference.

It looks like the ability to heal and fight will be very different from my past exp as heals. I am looking forward to the ability to do both!

I have been playing a Jedi Consular - Sage. It has been fun. My groups have been making in the low level Heroics as of right now. I have been going Seer.

I enjoy playing a healer, and it maks finding a group REALLY easy. Heals are always popular.

PvP has been somewhat of a struggle tho. My framerate makes things very strobe-lighty and that makes it hard to target properly. Also (and I hope they are working on this issue in today's patch), the health bars shown on the summary (far left) do not match the health bars on the targeted party member. Keeping my fingers crossed for a correction to that.

Where are the talent tree guides for each tree selection? Not finding them. (Although I dislike there being ONE perfect tree.....having other opinions is always helpful.)

Kira Carsen, the Jedi Knight companion, appears to be based on a Jedi Balance Shadow. She does some pretty mean damage if you deck her with crit rating mods and switch on Perforation. She doesn't appear to be based on any of the other class styles like a healer, magic dps, tank, or a rogue-type dps.

The picture is from before game release. The watermark at the bottom and that I recognize it is from the TOR website when they were first giving screen shots of the game. I guess orginally he was meant to be ranged...

As if that isn't confussing enough, I just crafted the highest lvl Orange Augmented Electrostaff that is craftable the Typhoon-5 and stuck in a purple Overkill augment I crafted and he can't equip it. I don't see any lvl 49 or 50 craftable Techblades to craft him, any sugestions as to what do?

use commendations for orange tech blade from most worlds and/or do belsavis heroic for companion weapon reward

Thanks for the info on that. What I really wanted was to craft all my weapons for my Companions. I had expected that a Electrostaff would work for him as the offical guilde that is posted for Fess is not accurate or I not doing something right and would very much like to find out what the real facts are. I have spent some serious time and resoursce to craft this weapon, only to find out the offical guild on this page that deals with it is not correct.
