• Slicing Leveling Guide + Ilum Nodes (with map)

Slicing is the gathering crew skill that, compared with the others, is independent. Slicing allows you to get lockboxes (which contain credits), augments, rare schematics and mission schematics for all other Crew Skills.

There are 2 ways to get your slicing skill up.
First one, and the most profitable one, is going to gather the lockboxes in person.

Giving or taking 5-10 skills, you can raise Slicing by gathering lockboxes on the following planets:

    Roughly Skill LvL
    Planet
    1-75 Coruscant [R] / Dormund Kass [E]
    75-140 Taris [R] / Balmorra [E]
    130-180
    Nar Shaddaa
    170-240
    Tatooine
    230-280
    Alderran
    280-310
    Quesh / Hoth
    300-340
    Belsavis / Voss
    340-400
    Corellia / Ilum

(If you somehow get stuck, or want to leave on another planet, sending a companion to make a mission for 1 skill or 2, might be a good idea)

For who’s interested, I’ve made a map with the Slicing nods in Ilum.

Please note that these may not be the only slicing nodes in Ilum, it’s all what I have found by doing dailies and farming boxes there. Either way, this should show an idea about where the nodes are spawning.

The second way to level Slicing is by sending your companions in missions. Here is the list with all the missions available and the Crew Skill level required to make them.

The missions are divided in 6 categories:

Prosperous > Wealthy > Rich > Bountiful > Abundant > Moderate (Prosperous will give you the highest reward, while the Moderate the lowest – most of the missions are Rich > Abundant > Moderate though).

If you chose to level Slicing by sending companions in missions, I recommend doing the Lockboxes ones in order to get some credits back (and even make a slightly profit).
    A tip
: For example, if you have a class lvl 5 moderated Lockbox mission, and a rich class lvl 4 one, the rich one will give you a better profit than the moderated one.

To conclude, there's no doubt that the most profitable way to level slicing is by gathering the boxes yourself (100% profit), but the fastest way to do it is by completing missions with your companions.

You also get the mission A Test of Intelligence which is Wealthy Yield. You need to use Mission Discovery: Slicing in order to make it and it's obtainable trough Slicing.

That depends on the box ... 1.5k - 2k+ ... didn't got a blue one till now, but those should give 5-6k or something.

I found a place on Voss that has a 25 station loop that takes 20 minutes to run and gives at least 30k. The best part is by the time you make the loop they have all respawned. I spent several hours going round and around and bought myself the 1.5 Million credit speeder from the vip vendor at fleet. If someone has a map picture of the something marsh area i will map it out for everyone.

That's a great tip! Someone should send you the map. Is it rep or emp side?

I play the Republic side but one of the boxes is right against the wall of an Imperial base. 2 of the nodes are in an area that the jedi are searching so that one might hard but there are plenty of others. infact you only have to fight for 5 or 6 of them. the rest are fly up, grab them and fly away.

At Level 50 you will get about 50-100k per hour while doing daily missions. Your companions will earn you another 20-50k Credits per hour if you sent them on ressource gathering missions and sell the resources they bring back. If you have gathering skills you will earn at least 10-20k more.

Thats a low estimate, not bragging.

      Good Day,

First off I wanted to say nice work on the guide. The mapped locations are sure to come inhandy on Ilum as I'm a 400/400 slicer as well.

However, I respectfully disagree with one aspect of this guide.

A blogger ran an independant test of slicing missions. "crewskills.net" I've replicated her test and found her results very closely matched my own. Namely that the amounts rewarded from returned lockboxes don't always garauntee a profit namely if its costs ~1500 credits for an abundant mission the return averaged out over all fifteen times may be only .93 of the amount invested where as moderate missions being run fifteen times produced a profit of 1.43 the total invested.

The other consideration that was not made in your guide is that the cost to send your companion on rich mission generally costs more than sending them on the moderate gain mission from the level above. The overall profit gain is therefor offset

      for example (using averaged return)

      BountifulLv4 : cost 1250 credits avg return: 1425credits profit: 175 credits
Moderate Lv5: cost 990 credits avg return: 1420credits profit: 430 credits
