• World Event: The Grand Acquisitions Race

Recently today, BioWare just opened to players a new world event called The Grand Acquisitions Race. Below you can see a clip of the in-game news broadcast that players are able to see.

So here's a quick description of what info BW provided and besides that, they added a trailer that can be seen here.
Bioware quote Posted by: The Grand Acquisitions Race
For a short time only, The Chevin Conglomerate is offering great riches to anyone who brings them rare and unique items. Scattered across all parts of the galaxy, these items must be retrieved before the Chevin return to their home in the furthest reaches of the Outer Rim! Be cautious as some within both the Republic and Imperial governments wonder if there is something more sinister driving the Chevin and their quest to acquire these goods…

As you can see, this event is requesting that players search throughout galaxy in order to find rare and unique items. Unlike the Rakghoul Outbreak world event, that only took place on Tatooine, this event encourages players to search the entire galaxy in order to complete it.

This Acquisitions Race has been started by the Chevin Conglomerate which is a criminal organization that is mainly based on slaved labour and their goal is to acquire power and money through subterfuge and intrigue.

This event likely started on Nar'Shadaa's Promenade.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but this event sucks. Especially since the Rakghoul one was awesome.

Quest 1 you have to run literally all over nar shaddaa picking up little crates (which there's about 150 ppl doing too, think black hole area quest but more annoying) to get a chance at getting 1 of 6 pieces total. So after you open 27 chests or so like I had to, you move on out. The chests are on a 10 min timer and they respawn in different places but same area.

Quest 2 you have to align a laser with mirrors and whatnot to hit a panel. So there's a line of 50 people trying to do that, while some ppl can actually mess with your alignments. But usually its a 1 at a time deal. There's only 1 laser.

Quest 2 you have to interact with a box then hop on a turret that spawns. If someone else is in a turret, you have to wait till they're done then click it so you can go. There's only 1 of those which there's another 50 people waiting for it.

Quest 3 you have to fight some dude but there's only 1 spawn point and he spawns after you click a terminal. He has 4 little shield generators you have to click to make him vulnerable. But it tends to bug out. Also, there's another 30 people waiting to kill him.

As of right now you can only buy sand people social gear (which we can pretty much already buy), some pet that looks like one of the pvp pets, and a bunch of Bind To Legacy bowcasters (crossbows). Oh and red sparkle powder. The story doesn't make any sense at the moment.

Unless the 3 locked quests are awesome and they add cool things to buy, this world event was a flop imo.

Those crates took the most of my time; trying to find that last piece. Players that were farming crates just for tokens didn't help it any either. I have to agree with FalseHope4829 that the line ups waiting to finish quests is annoying and that the Rakghoul event had a wy better story but at least its a world event instead of nothing. Who knows what the next three quests will bring. I hope they introduce some lightsabers to the vendors.

Do you know where the droid crate with the sniffer droid that Agent Reesho put on Coruscant is?

I know there's some bad things about this event so far, but I've been enjoying it all the same. It's been a long time since I've gone to either of these planets. I love the quest to track the bounty hunter looking guy and the cantina puzzle (while very simple) was different from what you typically do in this game (namely kill things).

The boxes were terrible when I started looking so I went out and did the other stuff on Nar Shadda first. By the time I got back to them they were everywhere (since the flood of people logging on around 6 PM server time had finally died down.

The crate quest doesn't have an order to be completed. It is best done while your doing the other scavenger quests.

Yes, people suck and will not group up. The griefers are out in full force.

The Sand People belt looks really great on gun toting toons. The bowcasters are BOL, what a great way to give your up and coming 50 a HUGE leg up at 50.

Definitely not as fun as the Rakghoul event, and very frustrating at times, especially on my lower-level character. I did manage to scrape up enough merits to snag one of the "hoopty" speeders. It's so bad, it's good.
