    artifice crafting

I read somewhere that artifice, archeology and treasure hunting are good skills for a Jedi Knight. But I can't really make anything useful. Even the few hilts and gems I can craft I have to buy materials on the GTN. I'm probably going to just give up on it. It costs too much to craft with this guy.

Admittedly this was a character I created on the first day of EGA so I was too engrossed in playing to do a lot of crafting at low levels, but its kind of pointless now. My cargo hold is almost full of gems that i can't seem to make anything with. I even have a bunch of ancient relics that say if yountake them to the fleet curator they'll make companion gifts, but while I have dozens of them, the curator doesn't do anything or even want them.

Itsactually a pretty good crafting option. I make some decent addons to my oranges and it sells well on the GTN.

You need to send your compaions on missions to get the mats you need. It takes time to get all your mats, but re_engineering helps you reclaim some mats and elevates the craft recipe for that item to a blue level and then purple. These sell really well on the GTN

Artifice, archeology and treasure hunting are a good way to go for JK/SW. You can make your own hilts, color crystals, and augmentations. You can also make shields and foci. Gathering is easy with archeology, just make sure to watch your map as you are running around doing missions.

Treasure hunting can be more of a pain. My Sent started second day of EGA and what I have learned is to level treasure hunting by sending your comps out for lock boxes. By doing this, you sometimes get gear you can use, but most importantly are the credits you re-coop. You won't get more than the mission cost, but you at least lessen the draw in your bank.

The Ancient Relics are kind of like a currency. You need to have the appropriate quantity to buy different companion gifts. I believe there is one of each gift type for each tier of relic.

As far as the crafting, treasure hunting brings in the high quality gems needed for making higher quality items. As said in a previous post. You can also level this up by doing lockboxes doing make cost more manageable.

Also, be sure you reverse engineer everything you make. Two reasons for this is A: You get some of your materials back to reuse. And B: You have the chance to find improved schematics.

The color crystals are a bit different. I use them to raise skill, and reverse engineer until they are not useful anymore. Then sell what's left of the mats on the GTN.

Once I received my second companion I used him to do TH missions while I use my leveling companion to gather crystals while questing.
