Dirty Fighting Scoundrel's out there?

First off, I am four boxing Smugglers - though may drop one for a Shadow (tank). I am really liking AEing with my Smugglers using Thermal Grenade. Looking at XS Flyboy and Blaster Volley and Shrapnel Grenade they could really wreck havoc as AEers. And I am not as big into the single target backstabbing spec. And I wont be doing PvP. Just PvE.

Given this I am leaning towards Dirty Fighting rather than the Scrapper DPS spec. I can get Shrapnel Grenade and the bonus to Blaster Volley. Might run a hybrid spec with Sucker Punch/Round Two and Wounding Shot - still some nice single target stuff, but maximizing the AE ability.

Anyone doing a Dirty Fighting spec on their Scoundrel?

I might do the dirty fighting tree for the end lvl-raids, but with all the pvp dailies you have to do to earn your end lvl gear, I'm better off with the scrapper tree for now.

Yeah, does look like it would be a decent PvE spec since fights would last longer and you can take advantage of DOTs and bleeds.

i recently switched from dirty fighting to scrapper reason being i found that higher levels were getting more difficult. but that being said i am a newb to mmos. i love the smuggler class in general but for me it has been a solo journey. with the stealth abilities i can take out half of a mob before they get started! Shoot first and sucker punch are a deadly combo also. in pvp as long as u debuff and dont get caught u can hold your own pretty well. shrap grenade so far doesnt seem as good as i thought it would be just my 2 cents. also there arent to many scoundrels around just yet. im surrounded by the force!

As far as the scoundrel goes, dirty fighting, isn't a good tree for lvling. Primarily because it's a poor solo tree. Dirty Fighting is most effective when you're not the focus of the Mob's agrro. I'm not saying that the Scrapper isn't good nor fun, but it only shines because the Dirty fighting isn't that great for soloing. Think of Dirty Fighting as a complementing tree towards a tank or another DPS.
