    Sorc Healers in Huttball

Ok, so I am a relatively new 50 healer to pvp with ~5 few pieces of gear I have gotten from commendations.
My problem is that I am consistently finding myself on the bottom of the stats summary in Huttball whereas in other warzones I am typically one of the top healers. So I have to ask, what am I doing wrong?

In my opinion, in Huttball a sorc healer should focus on extricating & healing the ball carrier, in addition to using the ground burst to knock others off the levels to support the carrier. (Obviously this is outside of using sprint, throw, etc to move the ball.) By doing these things I feel as though i am typically acheiving more towards helping out team win, but when it comes to the summary I feel like a scrub. What am I missing? It seems if I focus on stats I am just going to run around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to heal, but ultimately achieving little. On the other hand, if I forget about stats and focus on moving the ball I wind up with only a couple trophies and at the bottom of the charts.

I really need some advice and guidance on this topic. I enjoy the other wz's but cringe at huttball because of this. What am I missing?

You aren't doing anything wrong .I have had the same experience. While your points wont be as high when compared to other wz's, you are still helping your team immensely. So I'd say you just have to get used to lower scores on the board.

On a side note, if you want to boost your points, stick around the end zone after your team scores. There are sure to be a few fights there.

i do the same things you do in huttball, but my stats suck in game because i have none of the set pvp gear. at best i get 1-3 medals for a killing blow, some for a heal, etc.

it is entirely possible that some classes still have an edge in pvp (im not going to say nerf because i do see Sorcs at the top of the lists). but when i can get owned by a lvl 14 sniper as a lvl 48 Sorc because of the cover mechanic, i am doing something wrong as well.

i tend to focus on the ball carrier, helping to move it or block enemy players because i lack the stats to really kill anyone in a warzone. in world pvp it is different. i can and have killed players 1 on 1 on Ilum.

You aren't missing anything. Sadly the way warzones are designed, huttball specifically, you don't get rewarded by playing the game properly. The people who earn the most medals in wz's are the ones who totally ignore the objectives of the game and "farm" medals. The people who work their ass of for a win by scoring goals don't get medals for that.

They need to add some medals for games like huttball.
    - 1 medal for scoring a goal
    - 1 medal for successfully passing the ball to a teammate while you are under 20% hp.
    - 1 medal for getting a killing blow on the ball carrier
    - 1 medal if your team completes 5 successful passes then scores

There are tons of things they could do to add incentive for playing the game properly.

So basically, thank you for being one of the people who plays the game properly, and tries to win.

Hutball is usually where you see unorganized teams fail the worst. Meaning they will get run in under 5 minutes if its a really bad match.

My point in mentioning that is, if you have a team that isnt working together (huttball is where this is the most visable really as you should always have a group of players around the ball whether on defense or offense) then you are gonna be kinda SoL on finding people to heal and staying alive long enough to play effective defense.

My strategy is usually to take a moment and find 2 or maybe 3 people who are playing in an objective focused manner and stay in their hip pocket. This will usually give you good defenses as a healer (especially if one is a tank that guards you) as well as puts you in a place where you know you will be around the ball (supposedly the area where the most action should take place though we all know this isnt always the case) with people to heal and the ability to do the few defensive/offensive things you can do.

    2 easy medals:

    -2.5k heal
    -5K heal
as soon as u respawn wait till healing debuff fades and use comsuption then heal your self for 5k crit heal. (use recklessness if needed) (u may need some champ or columi gear).

IMO, Sorc healer in Huttball is more a support than a healing machine, always be infront of the ball carrier and spam dispell on him. Use extrication wisely.

medals shouldnt really be your focus.

but whatever. if you arent getting 2.5k and 5k heals over the course of a match anyway you are doing something wrong.

as a sorc the amount of heals and dps you can put out when spec'd properly you shouldnt ever be getting less than 6 medals in a match.

    you should have:

    2.5k heal
    5k heal
    75k healing
    300k healing
    1 kill
    10 kills

all without even trying. thats 6 medals w/o even putting any effort towards trying for medals.

For the other WZ's I agree, but for Huttball I see no way of getting the 300k healing, and 75k can push it sometimes depending on how cohesive the group is. 1 kill is a given, but 10 kills I can have trouble with when I am focusing on moving the ball and the ball carrier.

As a merc healer I average 450-500k heals every single huttball unless its a one sided match I only get bout 5 medals but I'm only it in for the wins and keeping my team up

Ya I get 300k heals easily whether its on my Scoundrel or my brothers Sorc. Really if you just keep the aoe up it adds a huge amount of healing like i'd say thats easily 30% of my healing in Huttball. Make sure I'm around a good number of people at all times keep the aoe up and then spot heal where needed. If you arent breaking 300k heals that way in a game where there should be atleast a significant grouping of your team at all times then idk what to tell you.

Other than that though, spot healing where needed and use the abundance of CC's that we have. The utility skills we have definitely shine in Huttball. I usually like to save them for when people are on the bridges for knockbacks of course and then have my stuns/whirlwind available for clutch goal line scenarios or to lock a healer down when needing to burn the ball carrier fast.

PS: My statement doesnt really apply to those 1 sided matches where one of the teams wins 6-0 in the first 4 minutes of course. Or if you get into that time zone where your matches consist of people constantly bailing and being replaced. That can make it tough to stay near people when they are constantly exiting the WZ, lol.

    Are you winning?

Other than that, who cares what the numbers show?

We have alot of tools that dont show up on the scoreboard, that when used properly, go along way towards getting our team in the win column.

Don't sweat the stats, sweat the wins and losses.

I don't play a sorc healer, so I have no idea about what one should or shouldn't be doing numbers wise. That said, for those of you who believe you do, are you going in solo or with a group of players you know?

    I pug it up...

Personally I find preemies facerolling excruciatingly boring, I prefer the challenge of running solo.

That said, I look forward to 8v8 rated ... that should be a hoot!

This entire topic completely reflects my thoughts on pvp overall. While I haven't hit 50 yet, and my main is a marauder, I still feel your pain. I focus on the objective solely in every warzone, which greatly depletes my medal getting abilities. I agree with adding objective medals, but in the alderran(sp?) wz it would cause like 4 people to try and cap at once. I always immediately sort the charts by the thing I was going for instead of medals. For example, I normally sort by objective points, which I am almost always top 3, and that makes me feel better. I also use this method to vote for mvp. It shouldn't auto-sort by number of medals.
