    Tor in 7yrs...

Reading the thread “Is SWTOR really that bad” by kdawg started got me thinking and it hurts. What do you think ToR will be like in 7yrs?

I think the choice we make now in the game will have an effect on future. How many people that do the bonus series quest will affect how a plant looks in the next expansion. Plants where more Rep due bonus series then Imp the plant over all will have more of a Rep feel. For those of you have into lore, it wouldn’t break the history. Minor bumps in the road are not always recorded in history.

PvP plants, I’m not 50 yet so have no idea what Ilum is all about. What I mean is 3-4 plants that fall under Rep or Imp control depending on who wins most WZ for the plant. Once the plant is under control of 1 side, player then can fly there and do unique dailies to earn special looking gear, speeder, titles and even companions. Also having unique flashpoints too. Instead of getting a random WZ you select which plant you want to fight for or you can q for random WZ and get sent to where you are need to fill spots in WZ. These are my thoughts what are yours?

    1. In expansions they'll probably raise the level cap -- there are already way too many abilities per character (+legacy/+datacrons) so I don't think they'll go the route of AAs (EQ), ML (DaoC), etc.

    2. There will be a 'duplicate' of EV at 60 with a true Nightmare mode

    3. More Warzones

    4. Valour cap raised to 200

    5. Some Mythic-like (WAR/DAoc) invasion of a fortress for goodies.

Everyone in new MMO's will be saying "Go back to ToR!"

All joking aside, I am sure the landscape will be purdy as far as content goes. To me, for a long time now, people are looking to having a Star Wars fix via new movies. This game can very much provide the outlet that people want in story. So I am sure the story will continue to become even more amazing.

Definately more raids/FP's/instances and higher level caps are for certain. As far as stuff to do, I am sure there is going to be a lot that I can't even imagine right now.

You'll definitely see a level cap increase, I'd say 5 or 10 per xpac, and with that comes the tradeskill increase, probably to 450 I'd say.

I'd like to see how the legacy system evolves over the life of this game, my hope is to see a legacy bank that all my characters can access and BoA items that I can give to future alts.

    Space combat . . . .

I read a statement from Bioware that they were changing space combat "in a significant way" ? The jump to light speed expansion for SWG was honestly my favorite part of the game ! Wondering if Bioware might be doing something along the same lines.

I see most of the bugs/glitches getting fixed and the factions becoming more balanced. Also about five times the current number of players. Of course level cap raising with expansions and more companions, worlds, and mass pvp zones.

Then again, you never know. If WoW comes out with a good emerald dream expansion (that somehow kills all pandas on Azeroth) or blizz releases their upcoming "Titan", players may migrate there. But I don't see it going F2P anytime soon.

I see there being a third playable faction, More then likely a Hutt Netural. Then existing smugglar's and Bountyhunters along with a new playable class. would have a whole new storyline from ground up.

A third playable faction would be impossible as the characters u mentioned take away a buff from each sides that was intended to help each others sides. Plus a 3rd faction wouldnt work at all. Wz queues wouldnt work bc u cant choose to be an imp or reb for a wz

The point of a three-faction system would be you'd have a third faction to balance out imps and rebs. The gross imbalance of faction population right now is actually the reason I'd see the developers even considering this.

game will probably be dead in 7 years

im pretty sure the only reason alot of people still play world of warcraft is because theres nothing really else out to play that eather went free to play or failed a couple months after release

with the direction im seeing sw tor going, you can probably slot it in the failed a couple months after release catagory.but meh,i guess it'll be fun until guild wars 2 or tera come out

Don't be such a "Negative Nancy". Geesh, if WoW can last as long as it has, this game also has the same potential to last for quite a long time. If I played WoW after all these years only because there was nothing of equal value, you'd be wrong. I would have quit a long time ago. It's not just the gameplay I enjoy... it's interacting with other people while playing that keeps me interested. I still have friends from Vanilla WoW. I've made plenty of new ones over the years...

While I think Crunk is being unnecessarily incendiary, you do have to admit any MMORPG lasting past the two year mark without going F2P is an exception and not the rule. For every Ultima Online or World of Warcraft, there's a Warhammer, Age of Conan (both F2P) or Tabula Rasa (dead).

Personally, I think TOR might be able to pull it off. They've attracted a big fanbase of people with no previous MMO experience, and as much as the old guard may like or not like that, that was a big part of what made WoW so boggling successful. BioWare has also been pretty responsive to user issues, and has kept new fixes and content rolling out. It's really on their shoulders at this point, as I don't see any reason this one can't stay afloat, as long as they continue addressing the needs of the community.

I agree but they also really need to work on a better responce system to when players file bugs that was my only issue. But i think this game has a lot of what others games never had. And i am sure they got several great ideas on the way. So there should be no reason this game can't last a long time.

    Tor in 7yrs...

If they keep the content rolling out and have enough for everyone to do once they hit max level, then I think the game will last a while. Some new starter content would also go a long way in the terms of replayabilaty, one of the big things with mmos is alts. So far I think it's going great, as long sa BW keeps up with stuff I see no reason for the game shouldn't last years.

    Can you expound on this?

Full disclosure: Every bug I've ever submitted has been fixed in a subsequent patch.

To me, that's great response. Are there a lot of people experiencing game-breaking bugs that aren't being addressed in patches? Or are people just expecting individual responses/restitution when bugs happen?

If I'm in, say, Eternity Vault - and a boss dies and drops a purple, and I can't loot it, I'd file a bug report, and expect to see something in the next patch like "Corrected an issue that sometimes prevented players from looting bosses in Eternity Vault". But it seems like some players are expecting an in-game mail with a personal apology and the bugged item attached, and are upset when that doesn't happen. Is that what you're referring to?
