Healing Rotations post patch 1.2 - how to maintain force?

Hello! I'm pretty new to TOR.net and I'm a level 43 Sorc healer. So far I have worked up the Healing (Corruption, i think its called) tree and have a couple of points in the middle damage tree (can't remember the name of it). I know some people have put together some guides for sorc healing, but they are pre-patch 1.2 and are kind of unhelpful for me. So, can anyone please give me some ideas about ability rotations that allow for maintaining some amount of force power through a fight? I currently use purge>resurgence>dark heal to heal my MT through smaller fights (against weak or even strong mobs). For the bigger fights I use purge>resurgence>dark heal> innervate>(occaisional dark infusion - if necessary)>bubble>revivication>consumption> consumption. I throw out purge, resurgence and innervate or static barrier onto other group members as needed or I shout for them to use med pack or heal themselves (if they run a Merc or Ops) if I'm really out of power. I don't pvp at this point, so please don't tell me I need to respec to a dmg tree or else I will just die (i've already seen enough of this on the official forums) or that I should just unsub because sorc healers are broken. I want useful advice about healing rotations! Thanks!

We healers don't know nothing about rotations ... healing is about been able to look into the future and knowing what’s going to happen, if you accomplish this, focus will never be a problem and no rez will ever be needed.

Good luck in the art of healing.

Not much has changed. You just have to be smarter about where you spend your force.

Static Barrier –> Resurgence –> Innervate –> Consumption (assuming Force Surge Proc) –> (Resurgence) –> Dark Infusion –> Innervate OR Resurgence –> Innervate.

    Basically Barrier on debuff CD.
    Resurgence on CD.
    Innervate on CD.
    Consumption on Force Surge Procs
    Otherwise Dark Infusion.

Purge isn't always worth the mana to remove the effect. Only use Reviv when you absolutely need AOE heals as it's very mana heavy. Only use Consumption when Force Surge is up (sometimes you can get 2 off due to a bug).

Dark Heal isn't really that effective as a spell. It scales poorly and it has a crappy cast time.

All else fails, get yourself better gear and your group better gear. Mid to late 40s can be brutal if you don't keep up with gear.

Stolenkillshotx isn't that wrong either... Rotations don't exist. Managing CDs, procs, are what really matter.

The above posts are all correct. The best method of learning how to play sorc heals is to level up as heals. PvP is good practice too if you don't want to have folks die in FPs. By simply playing as heals you'll know how to manage your own force pool. Procs and CDs are everything.

In the new raids I have found that I use Resurgence on CD practically. (hardmode that is) It has uses in almost every boss fight and healing with a bounty hunter it gives us the much needed heals over time that we lack. Knowing when and where to place it is how you save force, and like others have said bubble people who you know are taking damage.

    thanks for your advice

I'm level 50 now and have a mix of Tionese and Columni gear. I put static barrier in my number one hotkey and use it frequently. And contrary to what many people have said, I use reviv constantly (usually I try to put myself in it if the aoes are not too bad and pop consumption 2-3 times while i'm in it). I find reviv useful to lay down in melee dps in a HM FP or Ops, as I can usually keep my tank up using static barrier, purge, resurgence, dark heal and innervate, but melee dps usually gets chewed up pretty bad and is usually underhealed (on an Ops). I alternate between laying down a reviv on tank/melee dps and heals/ranged dps which seems to work pretty well, if I use consumption when its appropriate.

I am very frusterated by the global cooldown on in-combat rez of 5 minutes; usually means we can only rez once per fight (realistically, since even if the rez is up, the tank might be taking too much damage to take the time to cast a battle rez). It can be inconvenient. Please don't tell me that I shouldn't even bother rezing or that I shouldn't need it, bad things happen to good healers. Any of you have any advice about how to deal with that?
