At the time I beta tested TSW (late April), it was a buggy, ugly mess with a horribly disjointed storyline. I can only hope that it has become better in the last month? I'm a huge fan of supernatural horror / fringe sci-fi and the Lovecraftian bent of this game really enticed me, but the actual experience was.. god awful. Should I re-download the beta and give it another shot?

Lol.well i only played beta 3 (2 weeks ago) and still fair bit buggy. But tbh i could look past most of that due to how basically cool it was. It wont be for everyone. Hopefully they iron it out for release.

have a level 75 hobbit huntress on LOTRO and love it. I also love to follow the story line within LOTRO as you see a whole different story then the story you know from the movies. It's really an amazing game with very nice less cartoonistic graphics, some areas are a beauty to visit
Have to note that this game is not really a game for having many alts, levelling takes quite some time, but its a real load of fun (check out the detailed crafting in this game, well thought, but can be very time consuming)

You could try Anarchy Online. It's a free MMO that was launched in 2001. It's probably the MMO that has the most depth and character customization and it's a overall great game. The graphics are perhaps a bit outdated, but if you are able to overlook it it's definitely worth a try. It also has one of the best communities I've ever experienced in my 10 years of playing MMOs. If you decide to try it out, I would suggest making a post on the official forums in the 'New Arrival's section.

    Icon14 SWTOR Alternate

IMO I would give Lineage II a look dodgerfn. Its fantasy based and a bit darker the homegrown american games we play. If you're looking for adult MMO RPG that doesnt cater to nerfing and family rating systems I give it a look see.

Agent_malina, have you tried "Play as a monster" in LOTRO? They tried implementing something like this in EQ at some point, but shelved it before it went live for some reason.

Is there a cost associated with death in lineage2?

OK, I tried LOTRO, Everquest 2, and Rift this weekend...busy weekend to say the least. Out of those 3, I liked Rift the best. Of course, it's also the newest and best graphics IMO. But it's not F2P, so that's a bummer. Retail the game is only $20, with same sub price as SWTOR, but free until level 20. I wonder if it will become F2P when GW2 comes out? Anybody heard? I liked LOTRO and the story, but the graphics IMO just didn't stack up to Rift. And Everquest 2 was good also, but the big limitations those 2 games put on the F2P deal make the game hard to be enjoyabe for me, such as limitaions on bag space and mounts.

I totally forgot about Star Trek Online... Can't remember if I purchased this or not. Very laggie in the beginning. Should give that a try again.

I remember when that came out and I thought I might like it, but never tried it. But now SWTOR has my space fix. I'm needing to kill things on the ground again

LOTRO graphics are not superb but are pretty good. I was F2P and loved the game. Granted, with all the money I put in to buying upgrades and expansions I should have just had a subscription (lesson learned on playing for free while drunk). I especially liked having voice chat enabled when linking up with a group. No seperate program. Great game, all around, that I would still be playing if I wasn't paying for SWTOR. Interested in GW2 if/when it gets released.

I'm excited for Guild Wars 2. Looks like it's going to be a pretty cool game. No sub, just buy and play is pretty sweet.
