Yeah I been hearing a lot about Guild Wars 2 also. I'm currently LOVING Rift...yeah it's a lot like WOW but better I think. They realy did some things right. The graphics are amazing, and the little details they put into the animations ( like fishing for example ) are just mind blowing IMO. The craft system is a lot like WOW also, and most of you know I'm a crafter

My only fear with GW2 is that it may be to much like Rift....but it is F2P, so I'm sure I will have to have it. I wonder if Rift will go that route when GW2 comes out?? I almost think they have to to keep people playing.

So, what Soul did you go with? What server are you on? Really tempted to sign up for a month and see how it's changed.

I'm on the seastone server (pvp), it's a pretty high pop server, and my name in-game is Sagev. Look me up if you start playing again. Right now I'm just learning all the nuances to it, and really enjoying it. He is a mage, going up the stormcaller tree. He is a blast to play. I started a new toon last night ( I'm a altoholic ) just to be my banker/auction house worker, and actually may enjoy that style even more...a rogue assasin. As you know I'm sure, you hit level 3-4 just getting out of the starter zone, and I had so much fun playing her I took her on up to level 10 last night lol.

Rouges were fun. I level my mage up to the 30s I believe. Did you roll gaurdian or defiant? I'm more of a PvE person myself...

Rolled Gaurdian...I always like the "good" guys better I guess lol. I guess there really isn't a good/evil thing going on in Rift, but I looked at the sub-classes and it looked to me like the defiant were closer to the baddies

I actually do more PVE than PVP, but as I get higher level, it's always more exciting and challenging to me if I'm always having to watch my back for the baddies coming or hiding....just gives me more of a thrill even out questing.

I hear ya... If I do return to RIFT it will be as guardian. I ran defiant previously and I ran the first zone to many times as is.

Well look me up if you do, that would be cool to have someone to run with. I'm not in a guild, but if you have some buddies maybe we could form one? I never have been in guilds, mainly play solo. But always wanted to try one out.

I usually join a guild just to have people around. If I'm at the right place, you can hitch a run etc... My play time doesn't usually correspond to running events with guildies on a normal basis. I used to "make" time to raid with my guild in WOW, but that usually had effects in the house that were less than desirable.

That is the reason why I never got in a guild...I like playing on MY time and time frame, and thought I would feel guilty if I didn't do the run's the guild wanted to do. In Rift there are so many things to do, and it's so easy to just Rift hunt I'm not sure how a guild would benefit me anyway...other than the guild perks that is, but I don't even know what they are in Rift yet. I level pretty slow, because I actually like to enjoy the game, check out the crafting ( which takes a ton of time ), and just take it all in and learn...especialy a new game. Heck I only have 1 50 in SWTOR and have been playing since launch! But I have 6 alts that are all at lvl 25 or higher, and have all the proffesions at 400 lol. My goal when I start a new game is figure out how to make money quick, so I can buy what I want. That takes lot's of time and work, but what I enjoy. Not sure if I'm going to craft in Rift or not....it's so much like WOW and that brings back bad memories lol. I leveled so many prof to top,and then couldn't sell the crafted goods at all. Now SWTOR did it right, I have made millions off of crafting. But it's in my blood, so I'm sure I will try it in Rift at some point lol.

If you're a Lord of the Rings fan at all, give LotRO a chance. There's really nothing like smoking pipe weed at the Green Dragon Inn. Plus all the low level areas are unlocked from the get go, so you can play up to about level 27ish before you have to think about spending any money. I don't know I'd the other games are F2P but definitely give LotRO a shot.

I tried LOTRO....not bad for free, but it just didn't do it for me. I didn't like the graphics. Hard to explain, but to me the scenery seemed "washed out". I like graphics that are very 'crisp' ( like SWTOR and Rift ), but just my op. I know some people really like the graphics in LOTRO though. Another thing I struggle with is the free play. Yes I know, I shouldn't gripe, it's free. But the limitaions they put on these F2P games, just make it to much work to be fun for me....the biggest example is bag space.

    dogerfn,
I agree 100% on the bag space thing... I need my space. All my alts had frostweave from the get go in wow. Just have to have it. My experiences with LOTRO was the exact same as yours.

how is your RIFT experience going? What level have you made it to? What professions have you already maxed out?

LOl ditto for me and the frostweave! In wow all my alts had frostweave as well...and I made a killing making them and selling them to boot! Bag space has always been my number 1 priority in MMO's. So I knew very early that I could not play (or craft ) in LOTRO without subbing...you know how I like to craft, and you can't craft in a game without bag space/bank space...period.

So as in Rift, my first order of business was to check out the bags, and the need-market for them. On my server there is a ton of people making the 18 slot, so I just started buying low and selling high ( spellspun I think it's called ) rather than craft them myself. That has worked, as I already have over 100 platinum and on my way to my fortune I don't think I'm goin to craft in Rift, (shocker!) I got burned out on it with SWTOR honestly.
As for leveling, I'm trying out all classes to see which one I like the best. I have a level 22 mage, a 20 rogue/hunter class, and a level 12 warrior. And my banker rogue is a lvl 10. ( you almost get to 10 just getting out of the starter area ) Problem is, I love all 3 of my alts! Each class is very diff and very fun to play, so I can't decide on who will be my main. Honestly I will probably level all 3, as I did in SWTOR and wow. And then start a cleric to see how I like him lol. I am loving Rift, it's so well done, and they really did the little things right IMO. That's all I have been playing for a month, and it has really cut into my SWTOR time....shhhhh, don't tell anyone on here

Im giving fallen earth a try, it's also a ftp mmo but a much better backdrop then the same old fantasy type setting of lotr. No sense in spending any money because i will eventially come back to swtor but need a break atm from it.
