For any fashionistas out there. Here is a list of mod gear and looks for those who are experimenting with mix matching your pieces to give your toon the look you want.

For me I can already see a ton of low level flashpoints I will be doing in the next week or so. Besides who wants to look ugly while beating down the opposition?

To get orange shell from the boss drop. Rip out the mods and stick in the ones I currently use and then use my augment kit to create the augment slot.

You may like the way a piece from a low level FP or heroic looks. Now that you can add an augment slot to any orange gear it is raid viable.

Examples:

I love the look of the Saber Marshall chest and leg piece for the SI. I like the way the robes look. With the augment kits now available, I can take that gear out of my bank, replace all the mods in it with Black Hole/War Hero level mods, add augment kits, and wear it while I'm raiding Explosive Conflict, or tanking in group finder without sacrificing stats on those kits because I have to make X number of black hole campaign gear to proc an augment slot.

I can take the Level 40 PvP BH Set (The 5 piece set you buy with PvP Commendations) replace all the modifications with BM/WarHero Commendations, add augment slots to all those pieces, and then PvP to my heart's content without worrying about not being able to keep up because my stats aren't right, and again, don't have to waste materials on proc'ing an augment slot on whatever set it is that I want to wear.

I can solo run Boarding Party, or Athiss, or complete the planet heroics that supply a particular Orange Set I like, collect all the pieces, and then put the latest and greatest mods in it, augment it up, and create my own unique look.

Essentially, its like the Transmorgification options that were added to World of Warcraft during the latest expansion (Cataclysm) but with a Star Wars twist. The page linked gives people an idea of what sets are available from what instances, so maybe I'm looking for a hooded chest piece for my SW Jugg. By looking at the posted page, I might be able to find it.

I did this before 1.3 /hipster.
Frankly the marauder bonuses in Rakata gear wasn't really that great so I took all my mods out and have been running around in agent gear because I hate how the high level Marauder armor looks.

No it will not. Only some light orange armor is now "adaptive", meaning it will change to your highest armor level. This is mainly the social armor.
