Group finder giving 5 Black Hole comms daily?

As the title asks, now you can just register with a four man premade and do a random hard mode and get 5 BH comms everyday? Does anyone else think this is way too much?

Four-man hardmodes were never even worth daily comms, which can buy a handfull of rakata level items, but now its even easier to deck out your char with full BH sets than it is to get Rakata. I cant be the only one who thinks this.

I would guess getting maybe three BH comms out this as a weekly would sound fair, but as of now this just seems way too much. :/

If you look at group finders in other games (I'm going to reference World of Warcraft, since that's what I know), the minute they introduce some kind of group finder, it usually gives out commendations for whatever the current "highest level" gear is (Black Hole in TOR's Case) on top of whatever commendations you get out of the FP normally (Tionese/Columni in TOR's case).

The reason for doing this as follows:

    1) By giving out current top rated commendations to purchase top level gear, you get players that focus on operations an opportunity to get more commendations. This tends to pull more people into the group finder that are experienced with either operations or flashpoints.

    2) This gives people that are new to top level game play an opportunity to "catch up" equipment wise to current operations without forcing a guild to run through "historical content" to be able to add a new person to their operations roster. This allows guilds to continue to recruit new people without having to set aside nights to run "that old stuff" that everyone's tired of.

    3) It allows people that do 2 things or want to do 2 things (Play PvP & PvE, or have different roles in PvE, like tank or dps) the ability to easily gear up whatever their "offspec" set is. If I had a desire to play a SI DPS, I would use the group finder to build up a DPS set for my SI. If I wanted to heal in PvE with my PvP focused BH Merc, I'd use groupfinder to build up a PvE healing kit.

    4) It allows people that don't want to/don't have the time to do operations (on a set schedule) the ability to, eventually, get some of the benefits of people that do run operations (like set bonuses on armoring slots that can be moved to other orange gear) if they stick with it long enough.

    5) It expands the ability of guilds to "test drive" a tank/healer/DPS by running some random groups with them to see how they interact socially with people they don't know, and if they have the basic mechanics of their class down (Can the tank hold aggro against an overgeared DPS, can a healer manage an "Oh @#$!" moment gracefully, does a DPS do their job properly once the plan for an encouter is mapped out an communicated?) without tying up a raid spot, or forcing a potential applicate from not being able to do an operation with their current guild if the one they are applying to decides that they aren't going to extend an invitation. This, to me, is the huge advantage of the group finder being single server.

    6) It gives people 1 more thing to do with some kind of reward attached to it. People are saying they are tired of doing the Black Hole Dailies. This allows them to do something else, and still get the same number of black hole comms they would have gotten from the torvix fight.

In World of Warcraft, I knew a lot of guildies that would use the group finder to build their tank set, even though their main operations/raid role was DPS. I also knew people that used this to fill out however many valor points they needed to buy that one piece of gear they still needed.

Doing the math, it will take 10 to 12 days worth of Group Finder Instances to get a single piece of Black Hole gear, and that you can't get any black hole weapons with the commendations, only armoring. So, if you focused on this, you'd be fully decked out in Black Hole armoring in 60 days. You also only get the BH commendations with the first random of the day. You obviously have a chance for Tionese/Columni/Xenotech/etc. gear through the instances, and daily commendations, which would accrue faster than the BH commendations for things like implants and earpieces, but those tend to be less of a stat boost than the armor itself.

Remember, the goal of the group finder is to attract players from the entire game to set aside an hour of their time, per day, to run stuff with their fellow players, whether you like the way they smell or not

If they didn't give people something for it, nobody would do it.

If I understand you correctly you are saying that Bioware is giving out BH coms too easily now as opposed to how hard they were to come by before the LFG tool?

I think the reason is two fold. One is they are trying to get everyone out of the pre 1.2 gear as you can't move mods to other gear without losing the set bonus.

The second reason I think is because with the new level cap coming later this year and new content the BH coms will be replaced by the next tier.

I agree somewhat that they are pretty much just handing them out for a song but at the same time I have multiple level 50's and do not have enough time to raid with all of them. So now I can run my weekly BH dailies turn in and run a HM when possible each day without having to invest hours on end to get into EC Ops groups.
