Is it useful to hunt for Datacrons....

I would like to know if it is of any usefulness to search for Datacrons that are not your main attribute. I know Endurance & Presence are helpful to everyone's character but I have often questioned if my Smuggler, who uses Cunning should go through the trouble to hunt for the Willpower, Strength or Aim Datacrons.

Along with the stats you get you also get experience and a codex entry. So, even if you don't see a real direct benefit you do come away with something.

Aim does help smugglers. With all aim and +10 to all stats it boosts an extra 1.12% ranged crit. You can hover over the other stats in the character sheet default "c" to see the help they give.

Um, aim affects nothing for smugglers. The datacrons are worthwhile for the codex and xp. Beyond that, gives you practice collecting them for all toons

Yeah aim is good for smuggler/agent the same way force is good for marauder/sentinal. Look at whatever the 2 thing your main stat increase then find the other stat that raises 1 of the 2 things your main stat does and chances are its worth grabbing datacrons for that stat

Does extra hit points help? More Power? More power for your companions? The key to datacrons is to get them while you are on the level appropriate planet. That way you get XP, Codex entries and help for leveling in terms of the stat boost. I have 3 50's and on my third one I finally decided to get all the datacrons. I got most along the way until Tatooine cause those are time consuming and I was pvping to level. I picked the easy ones along the way after. At 50 I had just a few to get. It makes a difference.

As to Aim helping Smugglers/Agents, yes it does but not by a whole lot. It figures into your Ranged crit and not much else. Without the datacrons it is not going to get high enough to matter anyways.

+1 aim does help a smuggler a small amount but it does increase crit. it also works the other way around for the bounty hunter whose main stat is aim, cunning adds to the hunters crit, a small amount but it does increase it.

I really was hoping that in a future patch that they'd make datacrons legacy wide. getting all these datacrons was 0 fun for me.... actually it gave me a stacking debuff to my fun levels.

I go for the datacrons for the xp and the codex. Of course I know that the non-main stat 'crons don't do much in the way of big number jumps. What I do enjoy is the challenge of getting to them. It has help to some degree the way I use my mouse and keys for precision jumping/positioning/moving/timing/etc. on the more oddly placed 'crons.

Aim increases Ranged Damage/Crit for Smugglers, so anything it will help anything that is "Weapon Damage", which is actually quite a lot, especially for Gunslingers. Anything that is "Yellow Damage" is only affected by Tech Damage, which would be increased by Cunning.

TLDR; the Aim will help you a bit, but it's nothing to stress over. The Strength and Willpower ones are fairly useless and are only good for the Codex entry and XP if you are still under 50.

60% of the time I work every time.
