I've actually been enjoying it. I REALLY feel like they needed to track the start of the various "bonus" quests on the map instead of just saying "they are on these planets, good luck!". I realize the idea was to get people to explore, but the smuggler boxes alone already do that. The rest of it I just used a guide to find them since I don't have all day every day to search every square inch of the planets.
However, I loved tracking the bounty hunter looking guy, I liked the cantina puzzle (which was very simple but still nice to see), and so far I'm enjoying the feel of working with the SIS to uncover why they're asking for these items.
It took me about 1.5 hours on my first character and only about 1 on my second so far now that I know just where to go and can optimize my route (plus by then the smuggler box hunt had died down it seemed).
I'm excited to see more of it rolled out in the following days. Though, I'm still not sure there's any rewards I'm interested in buying once I'm all done anyway. Hopefully they add a few more before the end of the event.
I used the guide on Dufly... Would have been reduculous without...

For a World Event, so far there are two worlds involved per faction DK/Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa, so its more like a fraction of a World Event. I have rehashed alot of the old stomping grounds but other than collecting a crap ton of Tokens I can not say that I have been amazed per se by this event. I like the fact that its new content. I like Bowcasters and I am glad they have finally made a real appearance in the game. But as to something overwhelming, no its not. It is an amusing diversion and watching the droid in the blue lane getting blown up is comical but I am not motivated to do this on all my toons. I think my biggest takeaway is that it is new content and it was released shortly after the F2P debacle. I know alot of people were kinda down about that and on my server the population was down a bit as people work through thier play?/walk away? ordeal. If they release new content like they said they were then I can take an occasional semi clunker along the way. I also like the fact that there is finally a use for all those "Chevin" types on DK that are hanging around Mr. "I killed my entire platoon!" Guy. This sets up a future hopefully for them as a player in the galaxy that pc's might get to interact with again. And having more pets is always a good thing.![]()
even if the event started 10 minutes ago the quests, information and gear have been datamined, compiled and stored by watchful people from data that was released with the 1.3 patch.
they just wait for the clues as to when the events will occur for them to post them to their sites.
I have dulfy on my friendslist (to secretly stalk her from afar) and I watched her spend a few hours on narr shaddaa the day before the event went live.

and on an aside I have spent 0 time on this event. I really don't see the rewards per time spent paying off for me. after spending countless hours fighting other people in the black hole area over box spawns I really don't want to do the same for this event especially browsing the vendor items.
I'd be surprised if you'd be fighting too much for the boxes now that most people have done the starting quests, and you'd probably have no trouble with the quest for the droid in the works anymore either. I haven't checked, but the mass rush is probably well over by now.
I remember a LOT of "Thanks for coming across the continent to see me. In fact, why don't you go back and tell so-and-so thanks for sending you!" quests in classic WoW that were required if you wanted to do the rest of the quest chains attached to it.
I did them anyway, because I would get sick of the "kill guys to get these 1% drop chance items" quests.
Event with underrepresented class rewards? Try certain builds not even being viable and entire classes being told they stay out of combat to rez people at the edge of the fighting when they die.
I had a blast in classic, but it was more because I played with friends and enjoyed things for what they were instead of expecting things to be quick, easy, or convenient. I'm not doing this to compare games. I'm doing it to compare players.
People used to be able to enjoy new things, even when they were a bit tedious or clumsy and when the rewards weren't great. It was just fun to get out, see all the people fighting over the objectives (oh gosh... the holiday objectives...) and do the content that wasn't there before.
As this game ages and new mechanics are introduced we'll see a lot more variety in things going on and a lot more tuning of those features to make them less inconvenient. As a programmer, this makes a lot of sense to me, because reusing code is a must in the industry. It seems most people don't understand that just because an idea is out there (I.E. WoW has done it so why can't you?!) doesn't mean it will fit nice, easy, and quickly into the systems they've built for this game.

I refuse to spend more than an hour on this event for the subpar rewards. I'll run the main quest for the 40 tokens on all my alts and get a bowcaster or something
