Well guys I quit playing about a month ago and I planned to come back but with the announcement of f2p and imminent MoP I don't think im coming back. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help in Swtor and the great community.

Yeah, if you aren't already subscribed and playing you might as well wait. They're talking about releasing a bunch of content in the coming months but at that point F2P will be right around the corner and if you're just looking to "check in" again you might as well do it when you don't have to pay for it.
For all the negativity MoP gets it sounds like it will have a lot of things to mess around doing (pet battles and all that) and I love the idea of the new dungeon challenge mode. Timed runs for rewards were great, but usually people just waited until they out-geared it. It should be more meaningful with this mode since everyone has stats capped(or bolstered if you're not geared) at what Blizzard feels is "appropriately geared" for the run.
I also like the look of the new talent system. Each spec still maintains its own flavor with the old "everyone takes this because you have to" talents being granted as you level, but it looks like they're finally offering more situational abilities that should make smarter players really shine (with all the new snares, knockbacks, temporary buffs, etc...)
I won't go back to WoW until the subscriptions dry up enough that they go F2P because I just get burned out too easily on gear grinding games these days. However, they do a great job with mechanics, competitiveness, and the whimsical "extras".
Hopefully, BioWare is able to maintain their focus on story (since I LOVE actually caring who my character is) and eventually introduce a bit more of the extras and mechanics. It will probably depend largely on how many people F2P can drag back in.
Good luck to ya...

MoPs simplyfied talents is actually one of the worst changes. All I can see is Blizzard turning to please kids more than loyal long time players by making all simplier and less challenging. I was a die hard wow player but once I played Rift and SWTOR I can barely consider playing it so much again. Imo atm Rift is most advanced and most appealing game that demanding mmo vet can find in terms of diversity of features/activities available. Some of which are now getting copied over to wowI do mainly play SWTOR now tho coz I got hooked by its casuality and nice community/guild I've found.
Maybe I'm just a gaming genius, but have you ever actually looked at character build options in a MMO and thought "man, this is going to be hard to do right"? I haven't played Rift, but the talents look simpler than WoWs used to be (though more interesting), and I never had any trouble picking a build that would make me perfectly competitive in WoW.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it always seems like people are kidding themselves when they pretend games were "more challenging back in the day".
Right now as a sawbones healer if I were to remove all the "need this to do your job at all" and "increase this by a percent" talents everyone who's not blindfolded while applying talents will take I get to choose between an AoE heal and some increased crit healing or more energy from pungency and an AoE damage ability.
For just about every class you look past the first couple of tiers of talents and they stop being useful for more than a specific build (some of them even enforce that by requiring a specific stance/ammo/whatever you want to call it). Add to that the extremely powerful talents toward the top of the trees, and you're given very minimal choice.
While there are fewer things to click ultimately WoW would give me more options on how my character would be played than SWTOR does now. Granted, we're level 50 with new levels and talents coming "sometime this year". I fully expect to see this change over time. I'm just saying the "dumbing down of WoW" people talk about is mostly just streamlining a system that really was just a lot of clicking everyone did and nobody thought was hard.

Salute buddy.
See you when makeb comes. If the charge subs for it though then maybe not![]()
I played rift after it released and played it for about 3 hours and wanted to kill myself. I didn't much care for itOriginally Posted by dodgerfn:40418
I think EVE online and SWG pre CU were awfully challenging. More so than WoW or SWTOR for me.
Later man.
BTW shouldn't you be SPC Kennedy by bow?
