My girl likes all things computers. I introduced her to SWTOR just as a change of pace from WoW and it was a method of us spending some extra time together. She played it and liked it enough. I didn't coax her into anything. I just let her pick what she likes and she went with it.

Good luck. It's a lot of fun playing with the lady. My wife grew up not playing video games, but she's slowly going nerd now. You don't get the kind of interaction you do in video games with many other story mediums, so it may be your girlfriend's a gamer and she just doesn't know it yet.

Ha that's possible! Honestly, I think she's afraid to play because she fears deep down she will love it and it will take all of her free time up! She sees how much I'm into it and doesn't wanna go there lol. Maybe I can coax her into it someday. At least she loves sports like me....which is even a rarer find in my book

Agreed. My gf loved KoTOR before she met me, played a little WoW, and couldn't wait for SWTOR to come out... but can't stand to see a football on the screen!

My ex was hooked on all that Facebook crap that infects the computer. I wouldn't mid a game or two, I did Mafia Wars for a bit, but the shit they download to your computer to spy on you is overwhelming. I still can't filter out emails cuz they keep changing them. Her sister has been doing WoW from launch and sees no end. She's the one who got ME into WoW from SW:G. Otherwise I was happy playing Day of Defeat all the time and Team Fortress.

Speaking of ex wives, mine HATED video games. Oddly enough though, for much of our marriage whenever we went to see the Houston Astros live, she kept score. I mean, how many non sports fan women know how to keep score in baseball. I promised her she wouldn't get beaned by a foul ball and she said she would keep score. She learned it and if I told her it was a 6-4-3 double play, she would say SS to 2B to 1B. She knew the terminology and corrected me when I didn't see the play properly. Didn't work out between us but we still remain friends.

So I now play the BIG THREE MMORPG's (say that in a deep booming announcer voice.) I picked up MoP and installed it and I must admit I rolled up a Pandaren Monk and an really enjoying it. So now I have active toons in SWTOR, WOW and GW2. All have their strengths and flaws. Very interesting. World of Warcraft had changed alot in the 18 months since I left. Its almost a new game. I'm noticing with cross server areas that the game appears more alive. I'll keep you guys posted.

I've honestly been tempted to do just that. I just don't know that I can do the leveling after the starting zone. I tried going through the "new" alliance zones after cata and was just meh. Maybe I'll play all the SWTOR classes to at least chap 2 before I switch again

I really wanted to try GW2, but I'm just not sure about it. Maybe after a bit and they've refined it.

RIFT is looking real interesting again also.

Quick question to satisfy my game design curiosity for those playing WoW. Have you run with healing monks yet? How do they balance a healer spec dependent on melee damage? Are they as good at healing as others while doing melee damage (resulting in them being the best choice for the new timed challenge runs) or does it restrict their ability to react to damage (making them a good choice only if you'd rather have a bit more damage than an optimal healer, probably still best for challenge modes)?

I initially assumed they'd have healing replacements for damage abilities for the sake of building chi, but it sounds like that's not the case.

If it's anything like the first, the most exciting changes will come with an expansion (along with a reduced cost on the initial account). If you're going to wait a while, might as well wait for that.

Then again, I'm a cheapo. I'm still waiting for the Nov or Dec Steam sale to get Skyrim because I'm too cheap to pay full price.

It's all I'm playing right now....absolutely love it. I can't believe they made a game this good with no sub.
