The timing of this patch I find very odd. It just happens to drop the day after pandas in wow? No way was that not planned. Hopefully it means the content has been ready and they were holding it. Otherwise it means it was rushed and we are going to get a buggy mess..............
Fingers crossed. I'm expecting buggy.
From all of the pts guilds they are stating the bugs within the operation were minimal except the last boss which got fixed quickly

And from the notes on the launcher the GTN is dead, they are letting the timers run out on materials already on the GTN. But can not add new stuff.
"The Galactic Trade Network is currently unavailable and we do not have a ETA at this time for its restoration. Items currently listed on the GTN will have their auction timers expire as they normally would. We apologize for the inconvenience. This is a high priority issue that we are working to resolve."
Only thing I could see being remotely related is changing the offhand weapons to be moddable, only because they likely just added the "new" versions of them and updated all the places where the ID for the old was to the new version (one of which would have been GTN auctions).
Should that affect the GTN in any meaningful way? Heck no. Would it surprise me if that's what messed stuff up? Not at all.

I guess no one else had the flickering map, the right click on names to whisper not working and the worst was the laggy action of my character (with all bars showing on bandwith meter). I turned all my graphics settings to low or off and no help there. It was almost unplayable for me and a bunch of others on Harbinger (checked Jedi Conv.and it was the same for me). I did notice that it never got Very Heavy on the server, so I would presume others had bugs too.
Luckily, they are working on it again this morning (Thursday) for a couple of hours.

the thing i'm looking at is how everything is set up now. they went from a 1-server setup for each , well, Server (as far as they us believe). The PTS is a single server setup. Now, without going into any real details with us, they are running multiple servers for each, with these servers taking care of different things. I'm sure some processes span several if not all the servers. It wouldn't surprise me if the GTN spans several and, in administering the changes in 1.4, application to a host of servers is bit more complicated than to a test server that hosts HUNDREDS vs. THOUSANDS (or more) of players.
The amazing thing is that they were trying to HOTFIX the GTN and other issues (i got rapid responses on bugs that I reported outside of bug reports and they said they were aware and were working on fixing it/them). That is a huge step and quite a departure from their norm. I fully expected them to take the systems down, altogether to work on them.
I still got everything done except some crafting, but all seemed well, even the new **** up a purchase and return it to the vendor thing worked. I accidentally returned/sold a hilt i just bought and instead of having to buy it back for cash, I was just simply refunded my commendations. I also had a glitch in my displays. I run 2d surround, and all of my stuff was scrunched on a single screen and my resolution was changed to 1920.1080. I changed it back to 5121x1050 and when they came up, it was surround, but all the controls were on the left screen. So, I just rebooted and it came up perfect. No jittering, no blurry shadows, no lag nothing. running over 100 fps and loving it. All was and is well except rt-click chat and GTN.
Some meatheads kept saying they improved SLI...lol there is no SLI optimization or support in the game. and then they said update your drivers. LOL. most people aren't even able to play without having one of the last beta to 2 driver sets. If they worked before, they still do because the ONLY graphics engine change were to moving shadows on trees. Some clowns even claimed they changed the fonts and couldn't read them anymore HAHAHA. Nope. Still the same. people kept saying their characters were taller or fatter. DUH... your resolution got messed up. Most admitted theirs was changed and all was good after, but many insisted it was because they enhanced (the non-existant) SLI and all the major changes to the shadows. HAHAHA

Well, my problem persists. There is a lot of stuttering with my character movement and the map is flickering. The stutter made it unplayable. The temp fix is to turn shadows low and all name plates off. It is much better but still stutters from time to time. Saw the forum and a lot are inflicted with this bug. BW said they are working on it. I knew when they said they were going to upgrade the shadows that some problems would arise. It be ok.
