Icon5 looks cool but cant play

i usually stick with pve but i tried pvp 2 times in the past week. it looks like so much fun but i have a problem.
when playing in PVP i stutter around the screen, sometimes it clears up then few seconds later it happens again.
i really want to play pv for 1 reason and 1 reason only... GEAR. i can care less about the teaming (don't get me wrong taming can be fun)and leveling up i just want cool and strong gear. PVE gear almost sucks for style and I wanna look cool putting the smackdown on the opposition. I have a good enough system i shouldnt have issues with graphics or processor speed. below are my PC Specs if anyone can maybe give me an idea whats happening that would be great. I plan on building me another pc with SLI/Crossfire capability but it's gonna take a while before i can buy all the parts. I buy 1 piece at a time (NEW never USED) and build my own pc so i know it will be what i want.
    PC SPECS
    Windows 7 64bit Home
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
Ram: 4gb DDR2 6400 400mhz MAX (can add 4gb more just costs so much)
    Graphics: Nvidia Ge-force GT 220 (code name GT216 revision A2)Core 135 Shaders 270 mhz Memory 135mhz

Its not the best Rig but i can play Sleeping Dogs,Batman Arkham City,Skyrim, and many others no problem.
not sure if its PVP or what so any help would be nice thank you all.

You're in the same boat as me man. I need to upgrade but the only thing that will show a considerable difference in performance would be the CPU. Basically you and I need to buy new PC's. I am running with an Intel Q9300 2.5GHz with 6 gigs of ram and an AMD 6780 card and my shit tops out at about 40 FPS with settings on medium. Google search gamebooster (cause I'm too lazy to link) The program will check your system for current programs that are open and turn off all non essential programs to lighten the stress on your system while ToR is open.

I don't know...after this lastest update, I've had lag issues and experience the same stutter you're experiencing. My leveling friend also has just started experiencing the same thing. I'm running ATX-type PC powered by a 3.2GHz AMD Phenom II X4 processor, two 4GB DDR3 memory modules, a 1TB SATA II hard drive, a 700W power supply, an AMD Radeon HD 6770 graphics card. Never had a problem up until the latest Windows update and the latest patch. Yerg.

I've also heard reports that people with pretty nice gaming rigs have been having some issues with performance. The suggested solution I've heard at this point is to run with shadows turned off (and if that doesn't work turning off nameplates as well).

Turning off the nameplates would royally suck though, especially for PvP.

Ahhh, OK. My friend had it worse. His map was flickering real bad and his rig is even better than mine. I will give him this tip. Thank you so much, Jetsu! You're right, PVP with no name plates might result in some friendly fire. Eeeps!

I've noticed a graphics performance drop since 1.4 hit and I have a pretty top of the line gaming rig. A lot of people seem to have noticed the same thing with 1.4. I've cruised the forums and one suggestion I've seen from CS is to install the NVidia 301.42 drivers from May as they say the new drivers 306.23 cause stuttering. I've been running the beta drivers of 306.23 and have not gone back to 301.42 to see if that resolves the issue.

Go figure. And here we thought updating our drivers would fix the issue. We did update (on Saturday), and it obviously didn't fix the issue. However, my friend just informed me that turning off nameplates worked for him. Mine only stutters on on occasion and I never got the flickering map. *knock on durasteel*

I did manage to put 301.42 back on my PC last night. I'm happy to report that the stuttering is gone and the areas load super fast. So anyone with an Nvidia card having issues might want to try those drivers.

Yep, ditto stuttering problems, I have foxfire ATI 5700, Re-downloaded game, turned off foxfire, put shadows off, nameplates off and can barely play. Stuttering anytime text comes on screen. Hope they patch this soon.

ATI Raedon not fixed in patch, just nVidia, limping along. Can't play my favorite, PVP, so still crafting and muddling thru dailies. Decided to go to the dentist today and make my life suck even worse. Yes I know, I really need to get a life. Though I did buy GW2, looks interesting & my video card works on it too.
