Yup! gonna be great!!! I'm gonna bot and sell gold. I'm gonna hack and screw up the warzones. If they ban me? who cares... Get a new email address, register a new account, and do it again..... lol. And for every person like me that goes on a forum and broadcasts it (mainly to piss people off), there are 1000s that are going to do it and not tell you....

Accounts that are F2P are limited dramatically in the number of warzones they can do before they have to pay and also have a low credit cap where if they make over a certain amount the extra becomes "locked" and you can only get it back by paying to unlock it.

I hope you make a lot of people angry by hacking and screwing up your 1 warzone before you have to create a new account, because you're not going to be able to make much money selling credits when you can't use the GTN much and your credit cap is incredibly low.

I suppose you could open 30+ accounts at a time and almost cause as much trouble as someone who spends $15 once...

Look around at some of the F2P games out there. I tried one the other day and as soon as I left the starting area it was just scroll after scroll of chinese gold farmers.

Its not that'd. I play star trek online, DC Universe online, Lord of the rings online and dungeons and dragons online. All of those areF2P without nearly as many restrictions, and I rarely see gold farmers.

It depends a lot on how it's handled and what limitations (if any) there are on those who don't pay to play. In this game there are going to be quite a few. I also haven't read anywhere that accounts will be handed out to anyone with an email address. I'm pretty sure that you still have to purchase an account (box price) to have anything to log in to (beyond the free 15 levels they offer without a purchase).

I do remember the days (not sure if it still that way now) when WoW had some serious issues with gold farmers. I am not sure what if anything they did to clean it up. So obviously the farmers in China are smart enough to get around most restrictions. F2P just makes it that much easier.

It's free to play. Not free to play without buying the game first. It will be sold for $15 to get the game and then no monthly fee. This helps dissuade the bots and idiots like the OP.

You might want to rephrase that....You can download and play the game for free....If they could do it with WoW which is a subscription game then they could do it with a F2P.

There's always been the problem of stolen accounts but those are usually used to farm coin to sell and not spamming. It got really bad in WoW back when they first allowed trial accounts to level 20 because they had an endless supply of spam accounts they didn't have to pay a dime for.

Blizzard has since put in limitations on who they can chat with, they can't trade or use the AH, etc... and last I played the farmers had resorted to laying out dead bodies on the streets of Stormwind and Ogramar to advertise their sites because it's the only effective way they could still use trial accounts.

Did I miss an announcement? Aside from the incredibly limited trial to 15 that they already have, you'll need to pay the box price for every account you activate (which they lowered to $15 recently, likely to net the cheapos when the F2P option becomes available). At least that was the plan in everything I've read up to today.

Do you have a link to an article stating otherwise? I think you may be confused about what they mean when they say "F2P".

Gold Farming is going to to be in any game you play, unfortunately it's become part of the culture. A relative of mine was banned because of "suspicious activity" when all he was doing was boxing 2 toons. A fellow guildie got banned because he "sent too much gold" to another character on his account. Blizzard is really try to crack down on gold farming, but no matter what they do or any other company does stops the farmers. It's the sad reality there will always be some kind of exploit or workaround so they can continue to hack accounts and farm.

I just created an account and downloaded the game for free.

EDIT: One thing I did find disturbing is the fact that they don't require a credit card or even an email address. They will have to address that before going F2P or it will be gold spam galore.
