PTS: Relics removed from cartel packs.

Source: STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Relics removed from cartel packs.

    FROM Nathan Emmott

    Hey everyone!

I just wanted to pop in and confirm for you all that, sadly, we did have to remove the relic apparition items from the Cartel Packs. We're bummed about the change as well (because we are super-excited about these relics) but sometimes we have to make frustrating decisions like this. In the end, the current state of the relics was not something we were happy with releasing at this time - but! - that is not to say this is the last you will see of them. We will be bringing these items back in a future update!

    Thanks everyone for the feedback!
Apparently these relics were procing but no apparition was appearing. It appears that they are removing them from the Cartel packs so they can go forward with releasing F2P and fix these as they can.

I would like to see them remove the whole light/dark side requirement for the pre ops relics. It is stupid that you can't make certain choices with your character because they have a light/dark level.

Agree... but it does play into the way they want you to play the game. Just add the damm neutral one or remove that completely.

I'm surprised they haven't already. They keep track of both your light and darkside gains until you max one out (which then starts eating away at the other). You'd think neutral 1 would be at least 1/2 level one in both the existing, etc...

They removed the light/dark requirements for crystals the first month of the game. Don't see why they would not do the same for relics.

Aren't the relics you can buy from the PvP vendors better than the light/dark side ones? Are you talking about leveling relics, because I'll admit I didn't even bother until I was 50 with them and did just fine.

Being Pure as I am, I don't see the problem with light/dark requirement. Liberty the Pure

"alignment" restricted items in RPG's have been around as long as RPG's have been around. Even in literature/mythology, items have been alignment or purity restricted, Excalibur, of course being one of them and similar examples go way back thousands of years. In KOTOR, if I recall, the color of your lightsaber was based upon your class of Jedi (i haven;t played it since it came out so I may be getting it confused with KOTOR2).

Having a Relic alignment restricted makes complete sense. On the other hand, I think there should be no faction restrictions on crafted items, like armor. I find it odd my Lightside Synth can produce Items that are restricted to Imps. I can see class only restrictions, but A light 5 Jedi Knight Synth really shouldn't be making Inquisitor gear. That's akin to the Pope running a suicide vest factory in the basement of the Vatican to sell to Islamic Extremists to blow people up.

I say relic alignment an EMPHATIC yes and everything else, a strong no to alignment restrictions.

Agree wholeheartedly with the above. I like alignments. I do believe though for people that want to play neutral should have equal options as I can easily see certain classes such as Smuggler and Bounty Hunter keeping neutral. It fits those story lines well.

Even troopers and agents. Sometimes they help people, sometimes they kill people, but it's always to do what they think is best for the Republic/Empire.

It's something they'd said they'd like to do, but considering how little alignment matters at max level right now it's likely not the top of their list. Hopefully when things go F2P they get some cash flowing and get to start hiring teams to do the more "casual" stuff like this though. It would encourage further growth for those who aren't into the "end game" stuff.

Agents I'm not so sure. I look at them and can justify them slanting one way or the other as the storyline gives you a cause that you got to defend. My trooper is too low so I'm not sure how that I've plays out.

I do hope they do add some more pre end game stuff like that as well.

I usually just get diplomacy crew skill to get my toon to 5 light side or dark then unlearn the skill once that is acheived.

The point is that there are no neutral leveling relics so you either have to play all light/dark or you get screwed. That to me is forcing you to play a certain way in your dialogue choices. I have no problems with strict alignments if there is something for people in the middle.

Yes you can get around the alignment dialogue choices by using diplomacy but new players either don't know or have specific crew skills to assist their gear during the leveling process.

I'm probably not there yet. So far it seems like sometimes the lightside is to help the empire and sometimes it hurts it.

PTS: Relics removed from cartel packs.

My point is that I believe it makes the game more interesting having to make a choice, even if you are not comfortable with it.

Usually those that straddle the middle get by without making the hard choice but in this game you have to pay the price sometimes. Just like if you go too dark or too light with a dialogue choice you lose affection points with your companion.

My opinion is to keep relics the same way, make the player take path whether they want to or not.
