I beta'd briefly on the Thanksgiving weekend, but I didn't really check if there is any sort of built-in voice chat for groups/guild... So will we need to use a 3rd party program?

Haven't notice any in-game voice chat ... so yes, I guess we'll have to use a 3rd party program. Honestly, even if it was an in-game one, I would still rather use a Vent or Mumble![]()
It was my experience that voice-chat was kind of annoying in the few betas I played, and that was just with 1 other person on a voice server with me. Every 5 minutes we were telling each other to be quiet because there's so much story and so many cutscenes you want to pay attention to. I can't imagine how frustrated I'd be if there were a dozen other people chatting while I'm listening to a class quest, or continually being told by others to be quiet while they have their own story segment.
I guess if you decide to use a multi-person voice chat, hot-key a mute button.
It will still be a long time yet until anyone can convince people to abandon their tried and true 3rd party voice communications for an in-game one.
That said, I don't recall seeing anything about a built in version with the game.
I've used TeamSpeak in the past (say about 9 years ago), then switched to Ventrilo and never looked back ever since. The quality is brilliant and for a 10 man server you pay about €4,- per month. A 25 man server is about €7,- (depending on the ratio € vs US$) per month.

Vent is really good - it's small, compact, user/idiot-friendly and it works! Mumble is good too, but vent is too simple not to use!
the newest version of teamspeak is really good
I've never liked TS over Vent, I haven't tried it in a few years though..
Yeah, I've used both Vent and TeamSpeak in the past and my experience was always that Vent was better. I didn't know that setting up a server was so inexpensive... that's definitely something I'll look in to. I only asked because I've had some experience with resource problems running vent/teamspeak and an mmo at the same time (problems I didn't have using EQ2's ie., in game voice), though never on either of the 2 computers I plan on using now.
My 25 man vent is $9.99/month US.
I don't think it would need much of a vote. Ventrillo has the reputation it does because it is so user friendly, lightweight, and high quality. Teamspeak I haven't used in years and Mumble is okay but far less user friendly.
I'm hoping they continue with no in-game voice. I don't like voice chat with Pugs. Too many mouthbreathers using voice-activated and screamers.
